2026 Fantasy Football Draft Rankings Updated:
Fantasy football draft season has reached one of its most important points.
NFL teams have completed their initial 53-man roster cuts, depth charts are becoming much clearer, and Week 1 is approaching. If your fantasy football draft is happening this week, rankings from earlier in August may no longer tell the entire story.
At FantasyLineups, we have updated our 2026 fantasy football rankings for quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers and tight ends based on the latest roster moves, depth charts, injuries and projected roles.

Here are some of the biggest things fantasy managers should be checking before making their final draft decisions.

1. Final NFL Depth Charts Matter
One of the easiest mistakes to make during a fantasy draft is selecting a player based on what his role was expected to be weeks ago.
NFL teams completed the mandatory reduction to their initial 53-man rosters on August 30, but roster movement continues through waiver claims, trades and other transactions.
That means opportunity has changed.
A player who entered training camp competing for a role could now be positioned for significantly more touches or targets. Other players may have fallen behind teammates or landed in less favorable situations.
Before drafting, check the latest depth chart—not the one you looked at two weeks ago.
FantasyLineups’ NFL depth charts have been updated following the latest roster cuts so fantasy managers can see where players currently stand heading toward Week 1.

2. Running Back Opportunity Has Changed
Few positions are affected by depth-chart movement more than running back.
One of the biggest situations to watch is Green Bay.
Josh Jacobs has been placed on the commissioner’s exempt list. While on the list, Jacobs cannot practice or play, and there is currently no established timetable for his return.

That immediately makes MarShawn Lloyd much more important for fantasy drafts.
Dallas is another backfield that became clearer. Javonte Williams sits atop the Cowboys backfield following the team’s roster decisions, while Malik Davis earned a spot behind him.

These are exactly the types of developments that can turn a mid-to-late-round selection into a valuable fantasy asset.
FantasyLineups Top 5 Running Backs

  1. Bijan Robinson — Atlanta Falcons
  2. Jahmyr Gibbs — Detroit Lions
  3. Christian McCaffrey — San Francisco 49ers
  4. Jonathan Taylor — Indianapolis Colts
  5. De’Von Achane — Miami Dolphins

We continue to view Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs as our elite Tier 1 running backs entering the season.
3. Wide Receiver Rankings Need Another Look

The wide receiver landscape has also changed considerably.
New teams, new quarterbacks and finalized depth charts have changed the environments surrounding several fantasy-relevant receivers.

That matters because fantasy value isn’t determined by talent alone. Target competition, quarterback play, offensive philosophy and where a receiver sits in the pecking order all contribute to his potential volume.

FantasyLineups Top 5 Wide Receivers

  1. Ja’Marr Chase — Cincinnati Bengals
  2. Puka Nacua — Los Angeles Rams
  3. Amon-Ra St. Brown — Detroit Lions
  4. Jaxon Smith-Njigba — Seattle Seahawks
  5. CeeDee Lamb — Dallas Cowboys

We have Chase and Nacua alone in our top WR tier, followed by a second tier beginning with St. Brown, Smith-Njigba, Lamb and Justin Jefferson.

The difference between ranking players and building tiers becomes especially important on draft day. If several players remain available within the same tier, fantasy managers may have more flexibility to attack another position before that tier dries up.
4. Don’t Draft Without Checking the Latest NFL News
Final roster cuts don’t mean player values are finished moving.
Injuries, trades, practice participation and depth-chart changes can alter fantasy value quickly—sometimes while your draft is happening.

That makes staying current especially important during the final days of draft season.
FantasyLineups provides breaking NFL player news with fantasy insights from RotoBaller, helping fantasy managers understand not only what happened but why the development could matter to their teams.
Before your draft begins—and while you’re drafting—check the latest news.
One update can completely change the value of a player you’re considering.
