Fantasy Football Week 2: September 16, 2026
Week 1 box scores can be misleading. A quiet stat line may hide strong usage, while a touchdown can create more excitement than opportunity. Before you make a panic drop, chase a breakout or lock in a Thursday starter, check the workload and injury news behind the numbers.

These five FantasyLineups.com takeaways will help you separate sustainable fantasy value from Week 1 noise and make sharper decisions before setting your Week 2 lineup.

1. Stay Patient With Jameson Williams
Williams finished with four catches for 45 yards, but Detroit targeted him nine times. That involvement supports keeping him in your lineup discussion against Buffalo. One disappointing afternoon is not enough reason to abandon a receiver who continues to get opportunities.

2. Look Beyond Joshua Palmer’s Touchdown
Palmer delivered Buffalo’s game-winning touchdown, but he received just two targets and played 18 offensive snaps. His highlight was impressive; his workload still needs to grow before managers can trust him as a regular fantasy starter.

3. Have a Backup Plan for Ladd McConkey
McConkey is considered day-to-day with a rib injury. Monitor practice participation before making your decision. If he cannot play, the Chargers’ target distribution could change—but his absence has not been confirmed.
Have an alternative ready without prematurely removing him from your plans.

4. Watch Arizona’s Backfield Split
Tyler Allgeier handled 17 carries in the opener, compared with 11 for Jeremiyah Love. Both remain involved, and managers should account for that split when setting expectations.
Love’s upside is appealing, while Allgeier’s current workload deserves attention. Neither should be treated as an unquestioned workhorse.

5. Keep Your Thursday Lineup Flexible
Detroit visits Buffalo on Thursday, September 17, at 8:15 p.m. ET. Check the final injury reports before kickoff.
If you start a Thursday running back, receiver or tight end, use the dedicated position slot when possible. Keeping FLEX open preserves more replacement options for the remaining games.
